Hey guys, I was curious to see how many people on here play instruments (or sing)? I have been playing guitar since I was about 10, but also recently took up keys because I got a free Hammond organ from a local church. I am self-taught in both, which is good and bad ;).

How about you guys?

Yeah, I am still thinking about whether or not I can make it to those shows... Luckily I have already had the chance to see them twice in 2009 so far. :)

That's really cool actually! You could totally pull off a cool rendition of the solo in The Beatles' Michelle!

What kind of organ do you play? I got a Hammond C3 and Leslie 122 in October, and after playing that for a while, I started thinking about other vintage keys sounds to pick up... I decided I wanted a Vox Continental, and ended up getting a 1966 US model off of eBay in January... It's just like the first one that Ray Manzarek used with The Doors, complete with wooden keys :).

I don't have the organ any longer. My mom sold it years and years ago, along with the accordion.

We kept the piano, it's a Kawaii upright. Bought it in the 1970s, it's beautiful. We also have a Wurlitzer electric piano, the 206A. I actually taught others to play on that thing, lol.

That's awesome about the Wurly! Benmont always has a Wurly 200A in his setup, usually on top of the Hammond. Those have such a great sound! I'd like to pick one up in the coming years.

You should post pictures! I'll try to get a shot of my Hammond soon, but the Continental is still undergoing surgery. Those pesky transistors! ;)

Has anyone purchased any new gear since this thread was started?

I have actually just sold both my Vox Continental and my Hammond organ in the past 30 days. I am going to pick up a Nord Electro 3 in a month or so to replace them. All of the great organ sounds, plus some excellent piano models, and even a mellotron! The best part is, the Nord is only 15 lbs. My Hammond C3 was 450 lbs! :ohnoes:
